Giving evidence before tho Totalisator Commission the manager for Oxenham, a well known bookmaker, estimated the turnover of tho bookmakers in New South Wales as nearly ton millions annually. He recommended a State controlled totalisator and the abolition of bookmakers. In reply to evidence to tho effect that the totalisator made men liars, the chairman read a wire from a well known Adelaide sportsman “impossible tote make greater liars than at present.”
