A SERIOUS CHARGE.
CASE HEARD IN CHRISTCHURCH,

Walter Richard Sadler, who figured in what is known as the Cashel Street mystery, was before the court this morning charged with having performed an illegal operation at Kaiapoi on Harriet May Keatley on April 8, and a similar operation on tho same girl at Wellington on April 26. The case is attracting a groat deni of attention locally. Keatley went into the box and related the circumstances of the first operation, which was arranged with Sadler by John Wilson. She was 19 years oki. Wilson gave evidence that lie wrote to Sadler, who was then in Wellington, on tho subject. Sadler icplied by telegram, “Wire £10.” Ho bad wired £’2 then, and £5 when Sadler came down. On Easter Monday he took Keatley to accused’s place. The operation was unsuccessful, and-he subsequently arranged for the girl to go to Wellington. The case is proceeding.
