WOOD TICKS.

A CAUSE OE DISEASE,

By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (Received Mav 8, 12.40 p.m.) OTTAWA, May 7.

Investigations by the Dominion entomologist establish the fact that there is no connection between wood ticks and spinal meningitis. It was previously believed that wood ticks, which are common in many parts of Canada, conduced to, if they did not cause, the disease.

The entomologist, however, has established that Kooky Mountain fever is due to the bite of wood ticks. Tho disease is of tho spotted variety, and is frequently fatal in Montana and Idaho.
