THE OLYMPIC GAMES.
LAWN TENNIS CONTEST. By Electric Telegraph. -Copyright. STOCKHOLM, May 6. The Olympic Games have bogon with tho lawn tennis matches in covered courts. The King of Sweden was present. Wilding boat Silverstorpo 6—o, 6 —-1, 6 — l. [Writing from Stockholm last month a correspondent of tho London Times said the first real athletic contests will begin on May 5, with the indoor lawn tennis matches, though the games in tho Stadium proper do not start until June 29. The lawn tennis pavilion immediately adjoins tho Stadium on the hill above the north end; and it is claimed to be, for light and in all : ts arrangements, tho best indoor lawn tennis court in the world. I am inclined to believe that the claim is justified. In a former letter, indeed, tribute was paid to the excellence of the arrangements for the games and to the preparedness of the management at all points. This impression grows the more one sees. One might wish the Stadium larger, for tho sake of those would-be spectators who arc bound to be disappointed ; hut it will certainly not bo the fault of any failure beforehand on. tho part of tho management if the games of 1912 are not a conspicuous success.]
