ENTERTAINMENTS.
GORGIO MARTINENGO. There was not a vacant seat in the Theatre Royal on Saturday evening, when “Convicts 10 and 13” and an excellent supporting series of films were shown. “The Convicts” is of the'uncommon category, and it should not fail to entertain the pdblic of New Plymouth. “The Opium Smoker,” a tale of the opium dens, was an excellent film, depicting the groat trouble a young naval officer got into through failing to do his duty, in order to have a pipe at an opium den. This evening, Signor Gorgio Martincngo, under engagement to the Royal Pictures Proprietary, will make his appearance here. The signor is a famous ’cellist and baritone, and ho vill be heard at his best in bis pathetic scene “The Unemployed Musician,” to-night. “Convicts 10 and 13” will also be screened again to-night. GLIDEAWAY RINK, The Glideaway Rink at the Drill Hall continues to draw large crowds, and Saturday was the busiest day experienced this season. For the benefit of beginners the rink will be open every afternoon this week from. 2.30 to 5. One of the proprietors will be in attendance and learners will receive every' help possible. In addition to the afternoon class, tlie rink will bo -open every morning from 6.30 to 8, when beginners only will be admitted. To-night the usual hours will bo observed, namely, 7.30 to 10. Skaters are reminded of the grand fancy dress carnival to bo, held on Thursday, 16th instant.
