WHAT ABOUT HAWKES?
Tho Wellington Garrison Band won tiie Championshir and also tho Challenge Shield at the Palmerston North Baud Contest of 1911. They used Hawkes’ Elcclsior Sonorous Band Instruments—a complete set. In tho first test piece this noted Wellington Band was allotted the maximum number of points, the Judge declaring that ho had never heard better playing, and commending in eulogistic terms the tons and blond. Tho Wellington Tramway Band, also using a complete set of Hawkes’ Excelsior Sonorous Lend Inmcnts, won the B Grade. Tiie Judge congratulated this band on their playing. These two successes in Grade A and Grade B, on such a great occasion, arc worthy wins (nr Hawkes, whoso instruments are pre-eminent all over the world.
