The Government Law Officers are representing tho Board of Trade, Sir Robert Finlay appears for the White Star Company, and Mr. Scanlan for the Sailors and Firemen’s Union. There will be three hundred witnesses. MR. ISMAY UNWELL. (Received May 3, 9.40 a.m.) NEW’YORK, May 2. Mr. Ismay is suffering from nervous strain, A SENATOR CONDEMNS THE SMITH COMMISSION. WASHINGTON, May 2. Senator Works, of California, protested in tho Senate against Senator Smith’s investigation. Tho Titanic, he said, was manned by British subjects answorablo to British law. The Government had gone to unwarrantable lengths. What the Senate sought to know could be ascertained in a few hours.
THE BANDMASTER’S BODY. (Received May 3, 1.10 p.m.) HALIFAX, May 2. The body of Hartley, bandmaster of the Titanic, has been recovered. His music case was strapped round his body.
