MILLS REWARD GOLD MINING COMPANY, LTD. For some time nothing or very little has been published as to the work and prospects of the Mills Reward Gold Mining Company. From reports which hare come to hand during the last three months it appears that the north drive in Smith’s Reef has been taken a distance of 99 feet and has found the reef widened to about 3 feet, as another reef junctioned with the original one, of this the foot wall portion is worth storing, the whole reef showing dish prospects. The south drive has advanced to a distance of 66ft. The reef here is small but gives prospects by crushing in the mortar. On February 24 the manager reported that the north, drive was 120 ft in and had got the reef 48 inches wide carrying gold right through from one side to the other. Li order to test whether gold improves at a lower depth, the manager suggested in March that a drive about 60ft below present working should be made; this' the directors agreed to and it has now proceeded about 78ft the reef being expected to bo cut at 180 ft. Should the manager’s expectations be correct the directors will then require to erect a battery to deal with the stuff at presqnt paddocked and with that which the different workings will produce there being now three or four places where payable gold is known to exist. The future conduct of the company will depend on the results of the present low level. "W,hen the reef is reached shareholders will at once be notified.
