At Hawera on Saturday tho local club played Pihama Club m the semifinal of tho banner competition. An interesting match resulted in a win toy Hawera by the narrow margin of 5 points. The following are tho scores, Pihama names being mentioned first; —Pohe, Julian, Edwards, W. Lambio (sk.). 24; v. J. Hicks, Keen, Parringtou, J. Foy (sk.), 15. Baylis, Riley, R. Lambio, Mason (sk.), 13; v. G. Syme, Crabb, Curtis, R. Kicks (sk.), 24; v. Campbell, Harnip, Mach ray, Conaglon (sk*.), 15; v. Reilly, Barnett, Rev. Shore, W. Robertson (sk.), 18, Totals: Pihama 52, Hawera 57. Tho final will be played at Stratford between Hawera and New Plymouth, probably on Wednesday next. The following will represent Hawera:—J. Svme, Crabb, Curtis, 11. tyicks (sk.). * Hawera aud St. John’s played two, matches at Hawera on Monday, tho home club winning both, in the morning by 85 to 75, and in tho afternoon by 77 to 60.
