FERRY STEAMER SUNK.
MANY LIVES LOST. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (Received April 10, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, April 9. Reuter’s Cairo correspondent states that a crowded ferry steamer sank in the Nile at midnight. It is believed that there were two hundred people drowned. A LATER REPORT. (Received April 10, 10.55 a.m.) CAIRO, April 9. An excursion steamer with throe hundred persons aboard collided with another steam/or. The latter saved many of the excursion steamer’s passengers, but many were drowned. Seventeen bodies have already been recovered. The city has been plunged into mourning.
