GRAY BEATS STEVENSON. By Electric Telegraph.--Copyright. LONDON, Dec, 16. There was a crowded house to watch the Cray-Stcvcusnn contest. Gray totalled 8654 on Friday allernoon, and Stevenson 698. In the evening Stevenson was unlucky, hut Gray was brilliantly consistent. Four times he topped the hundred, averaging 67, and Stevenson 24. LONDON, Doc. 17. Gmv won the match, scoring his 18,000, Stevenson getting 17,304. Gray was feeble in the afternoon but better in the evening. Stevenson was unable to put up a superlative cilort. though at one time he reduced the load to 407, Stevenson's best break was 341, and Gray’s 2G4. The young Australian received a great ovation at the conclusion. [Gray and Stevenson were to play three matches in December, January, and February for £SOO a-sidc.]
