ENTERTAINMENTS
ROYAL PICTURES. Last night the proprietors screened on behalf of the Taranaki Herald the results of the second ballot, also some splendid lantern slides of Now Zealand scenery and the wreck of tho Wairarapa. ' To-morrow (Saturday) at the sw-'Cns matinee a splendid programme ■will bo presented, headed by “ Our Navy.” This magnificent series is oOOOft. in length, and will take over an hour to project. The opening scene sliows a view on the fore deck of a battleship, in the centre of which is the sailors’ motto, “ Honour the King.” Then there is shown the training of future Nelsons in boat-sailing, guns used in tho days of the great Admiral, and the guns of to-day. Tho latter picture shows the great advance made m the size and type of these deadly weapons. Warships great and small will bo seen floating across the screen, and will show what a splendid line of defence England possesses. This section of tho film sliows all classes of war craft, from the submarine to the largest Dreadnought. A pleasing portion includes that under the sub-head-ing of *”Twixt Love and Duty.” That “all tho girls love Jack” is proved without a doubt, for the young ladies shower unlimited attention on the lads in blue. To describe this picture is impossible, as it is so full of pleasing incidents. The supporting series of pictures include “La Tosca,” London Gazette No. 135, and a, screaming comic.
