WANGANUI SHOW.

FIRST DAY. Per Press Association.WANGANUI, Nov. 15. The Wanganui Agricultural show commenced to-day. A strong wind prevailed all day with occasional showers, one drenching downpour occurring at 5 o’clock. In other respects tho show was the most successful yet held. Tho entries constituted a record, totalling as follows:—Horses 636, cattle 241, sheep 322, dogs 1250. Tho exhibits wore of a fine stamp throughout. Tho championships so far awarded arc as follows: Cattle.—Hereford bull, Levett; cow, G. F. Moore. Polled Angus: Bull, C. A. Russell; cow, Fred Moore. Shorthorn: bull G. A. Turner; cow, Dalzicll Bros. Polly Ayrshire: bull, Slack Bros.; cow. Slack Bros. Sheep.—Southdowns: rams, Ellis Bros,; ewe, S. R. Lancaster. English Leicester: ram and ewe, Lancaster. Southdown: ram, Ellis Bros cwo, Lancaster ; ram and owe over 30 months, Lancaster. Lincoln : ram and ewe, W, H. Wybourne. Corriedalo: ram, J. Gibson. Border Leicester: Mrs. J. D. Ormond.
