ENTERTAINMENTS.

“THE WOMAN IN THE CASE.” On Monday night next at tho Theatre Royal, J. C. Williamson, Ltd., will present to New Plymouth playgoers tneir new English Dramatic Company, headed by tho two eminent English actresses, Miss Mabel Trevor and Miss Elinor Forster, in Clyde Fitch’s stirring drama, “The Woman in the Case." The play is claimed to bo an unusually fine example of the new drama, and its success throughout Great Britain, America, and Australia augurs well lor its ready acceptance throughout New Zealand. There is a ringing note of true, honest purpose in the story, a masterly, vigorous development of plot, a keen insight into the foibles and vagaries of human nature, and something definite and life-like in the characters of tho story. “The Woman in tho Case” will ho followed on Tuesday with “A Fool There Was.” There are some notable features about this piece. First staged in America, whore Elbert Orton (well known in Australia) made a sensation in the leading role, it was produced in London some months ago and achieved such a phenomenal success that it had to be transferred from the Garrick to a larger theatre, and three matinees per week have been given in addition to the nightly performances. The box plan opens at Collier’s tomorrow morning.
