WATERSIDE WORKERS’ DISPUTE. Per Press Association. WESTPORT, Nov. 15. A conference between the Waterside Workers, the Union Steamship Company, and the Westport Company, relative to the waterside workers uemands, was continued to-day, but without arriving at an agreement on all points. In the evening the waterside workers met to hoar the report of the*r representative, and it is understood that they decided to refer the matter to the Federation of Labour to try to arrive at some satisfactory settlement. NEW UNION STEAMERDUNEDIN. Nov. 15. Captain F. T. Evans, ot the Aorangi, has been appointed to the command of the Union Company’s new steamer Tahiti, due in Svdncy next week to enter the Sydney-Wellington-San Francisco service. Captain Evan# distinguished himself in towing the Nimrod to the Antarctic when in charge of the Koonya. THE MINES COMMISSION. WELLINGTON, Nov. 15. The Mines Commission has returned to Wellington, where rt is completing its work. At to-day’s sitting evidence was taken on the question of the advantages or disadvantages of connecting adjoining mines for the purpose of ventilation. Mr. Grace, general manager ox the Waihi Grand Junction mine, considered the system advantageous as a general principle.
