Dennis (.Unionist) 12,255 Mr. Stanley (Liberal) 10,623 Mr. Robinson (Labour) —.. 7,448 NEW CONSERVATIVE LEADER. LONDON, Not. 14. After the Unionists had accorded an ovation to Mr. Bonar Law the Liberals and Labourites cordially joined in the cheering. The Liberal newspapers declare that Mr. Bonar Law's selection is wise, inasmuch as Mr. Austen Chamberlain s selection would have made a Nonconformif* tho leader of -churchmen who aro opposed to "Welsh Disestablishment, while Mr. W. H. Long’s selection -would have meant the defeat of ■ Chamberlainism. THE INSURANCE-BILL. LONDON, Nov. 14. In Hie House of Commons, replying • to a question, Mr. Asquith declared the Government intended during the present Parliament to remedy passive resisters’ grievances. Mr. Lloyd George’s amendment, giving Scotland a separate insurance fund, controlled by separate commissioners, has been adopted. THE COST OF INSURANCE. (Received Nov. IS, 8.55 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 14. Mr. Acland, Under-Secretary for .Foreign Affair, speaking at Hackney, declared that if tho Government was able to reduce naval expenditure it could finance tho Insurance Bill-with-out increasing taxation, AN- INSURANCE AMENDMENT.
