SEWER CONNECTIONS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —1 should like to enter a pro- ; test against the unbusinesslike proi eeedings regarding the management of •ihe connection of drainage to the different properties in Barrett Street. On being served with notice to connect I paid (before the expiration of the notice) the £3 to the Council, the employees connected from main drain to my property (also before expiration of , notice); in the meantime X had put 1 the work into hands of a certified f plumber. Nevertheless, I, with some ' of my neighbours, was served with a summons on November 8 (a few days 1 after the date of expiration of notice) }to appear at Court. Now, Mr. Editor, ' I tiuuk the Council is harassing people in a most uncalled for way; and why should 1, who had made a beginning, I be made (with a few others) a scapegoat, while others near and in other parts of the town go free? Why the distinction ? Please let some of our councillors look into these matters, and at least let all be treated aaiie. If any property-owner makes a mistake, should not he be entitled to some explanation or instruction by an officer before a summons is issued. Thanking you in anticipation for space,—l am, etc., E .M. WOOD. [“Reason ” writes to similar effect.Ed. T.H.]
