HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

COMMITTEE MEETING

A meeting of the Horticultural Society was held in Messrs. W clistcr and M'Kellar’s office on Friday night. There was a lair attendance of members, with the president (.Ur. G. A)‘Gabey) in the chair. Apologies for absence wore received from Alessrs. X. Allen, AV. Bendall, TV. Nicoll, E. Ellerm. and F. Sandford, Airs. Russell, and Miss Stanford. A sub-committee consisting of the president, Mrs. Docked), and the secretary .(.Mr. A. L. Humphries) was sot up to arrange lor a hall for the forthcoming rose show to be held on November 9.

Various alterations were made in the schedule. It was decided to give a cliampion .prize for the best plate of potatoes in the show, Messrs. Webster Bros, having offered a special nrize.for this object. The fallowing have so far donated special prizes:—Mrs- Dockrili £1 Is, Mr. AFGahoy '£l. Morshead Nursery Company to value of 20s, Arthur Yates to the value of 15s, Rasmussen to the value of 20s, Niimno and Blair a collection of garden seeds to the value of 10s, Duncan ami Davies to the value of 10s Gd. TofchiU, Ltd., two books value 5s each, James Laird and Sons. Wanganui, one prize value of 20s for the dozen best mixed roses. Mrs. H. F. Russell a prize value of 10s 6d for table decorations, Rev. Mr. Kellow ft- prize of 10s Gd for best collection ‘of field and hedge plants in class, Mr. Sandford 10s 6(1, and W. Rowe £2 for five special prizes not otherwise enumerated ill schedule. A sub-committee comprised of Messrs. Cattley. Allen, and M'Gahey was formed to allot special prizes.
