DEAN GINATY.

FUNERAL AT CHRISTCHURCH. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 7. The funeral of the late Dean Giuaty, S.M., .Vicar-General- ofj the Roman Catholic diocese of Christchurch, tobk. place to-day. Before the funeral left St. Mary’s, in Manchester Street North, a service was held there at 9.30 a.m. The cortege proceeded to the Cathedral, in Barhadoes Street, where a, solemn pontifical requiem mass was celebrated by his Lordship Bishop Grimes, in the presence of a very large congregation. The service was a* lengthy and impressive one.

At the solemn requiem mass, the Very Rev. Dean Regnault, S.M., Provincial, acted as assistant -priest. ' The Very Rev. Archdeacon Devoy, S.M., of South Wellington, and the Very Rev. Dean O’Donnell, of Ashburton, two former 1 curates of Dean Ginaty (when he was Missionary Rector of ; Christchurch), acted as assistant ; priests; , At. the throne the Rev. Fathers Hoare, S.M., and Dignan, S.M. (later curates of tho Dean) were deacon and sub-deacori respectively of the mass. ; , Among the other clergy present were the* Very Rev. Father ■ O’Shea, S.M.V.G., of Wellington, the Very Rev. Dean Bowers, df Geraldine, (the Very Rev.- Father Tubman, S.M.j of Tirnnru, the Rev. Father Kay; 5.M.,-of Teinuka, tho Rev. Father Aubrey, S.M., of Waimato,- tho Rev. Fathers, Richards, of Hawarden, Hyland and Leeigtof Rangiora, Ddllll,' S.'MVA'.; of Lyttelton,' Boil etto, of Akaroa, Drohan, M.SH.. of Darfield, Kerley, S.M., of Hastings, Maloney, S.M., of Wanganui, Taylor, S.M.. of Leeston, Bell, S.M., of-Mount Magdala, Graham, S.M., and Quinn, S.M., of St. Bede’s College; the Very Rev. Father Price, administrator ,of tho diocese, the Rev. Dr. Kennedy, cud the Rev. Fathers M’Dounell and Hanrahan, ofgChriatqliurch Cathedral.
