The Coroner at the Houndsditch inquest strongly warned Katz for prevaricating and withholding facts that wore within his knowledge, and commented on the difficulty of eliciting- the truth, owing to local feeling. An alien was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment at Southampton in July, and was then deported. At Southampton yesterday ho was sentenced to a month and to be deported as an incorrigible rogue. Mr. Cooke, the Recorder, commented on the lax administration of the law, adding that it was monstrous to put the ratepayers to the expense of maintaining criminal and pauper aliens in prison Or in the workhouse. RECORDS OF THE MURDERERS. LONDON, Jan. 6. The Daily Mail states that Fritz’s dead companion was known as Joseen, and has been identified as Jacob Fogel, aged 22, a Native of Kovno, Russia. He participated in several bank raids, and was captured, hut escaped and came to England in February, 1910. He worked for three months as a tailor’s presser. The Mail adds that it is now known that Morountzeff, Fritz, and Fogel were members of a gang of 28, including women. Tho Telegraph states that Beron was Russian born. The murder has tho appearance of a vendetta. It is believed that he was killed lest he should give information as to the whereabouts of Fritz. The latter and his companion changed their lodgings to 100 Sidney Street, the morning after Beron’s death. EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. (Received Jan. 7, 9.80 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 6. At the inquest on the Sydney Street victims medical evidence showed that there was a bullet in the skull of one body. There was no evidence to show it was a self-inflicted wound. PETER-THE-PAINTEE. (Received Jan. 7, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 6. The inquest on the Sydney Street victims showed that both were small men; therefore it is impossible that either could be Poter-the-Pointer, who is of fine physique. THE ACCUSED"CHARGED. LONDON, Jan. 6. Extraordinary precautions were taken at the Guildhall, where the three men Osef Federof, Jacob Peters and Yourka Dubof were charged with being concerned in the murder of the police at Houndsditch. The women Trassjonski and Milstein were charged with harbouring them. Formal evidence was taken.
