BOY IMMIGRANTS.
A LARGE DEMAND. Per .‘\ssorintfoT». AVELLINGTON. Jan. 5. As fully two hunclrecl and fifty applications' wore received from farmers for the services of fifty boys who arc being brought out to New Zealand on the Atlicnio by Mr. Sedgwick, tho Labour Department, to which tho work was entrusted, has boon aide to place tho lads in situations whore they arc likely to secure the greatest possible benefit and instruction. Immediately on arrival in tho Dominion the party will scatter over a. wide area. Eleven of tlie Ixiys are to proceed to situations in various parts of Auckland province, some going as far as Helcnsville in the North, others to Thames and IJotorua districts, and several to the "Waikato. Ton will be located in Hawke’s Bay and AVairarana, seven in Maiiawatu and AVangamii districts, eight in North Canterbury, four in South Canterbury, five'in Otago, and three in Southland. The Department, in addition to meeting the" lads ou arrival, will, through its agents, boo everyone of them safely to his destination. 'Air. Sodgwiek is accompanying tho party, which is dim to reach Wellington liefore the end of tho month, hut will hand them over to the Department hero. In addition to a very largo demand for those “pioneor”_ boy immigrants, farmers arc still writing to tho Department and asking for tho services of lads brought out under similar conditions. The Department, however, prefers to await the result of tho present experiment before taking action in the direction of bringing out any further parties.
