Haste is imperative if the now Democratic House’s objections are to be avoided. Air. Feilding, Minister of Finance, and Air. Paterson, Minister of Customs, will visit Washington, representing Canada. OTTAWA, Jan. 1. The reciprocity congress- resumes on Saturday at Washington. The negotiations will not be protracted, and ah agreement will probably bo announced within n week. It is generally recognised in Canada that the new Democratic House will concede tariff reductions in order to achieve lower tariffs, which, they promised before the elections.
