BLOOD STOCK SALE.
AT ELLERSLIE, Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 30. There was an attendance of over five hundred at J. Williamson’s stableh .at ;■ Ellerslio this afternoon, when Mr. H. 0. Nolan, on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company conducted a blood stock sale. The first nice lots offered belonged to Mr. . William Patterson, of Motiti Island, and comprised yearlings and two-year-- I olds, ntost of whom .were by the Castor— Sapphire sire Motiti'. Eight lots were disposed, of for IBS. guineas, the best v figure reached - being 60 guineas for a racey-looking "yearling coit named Ail Worthy by Motiti from.the now' famous 1 Tauriki. Six lots wore submitted by . the Kai Iwi breeder Mr. G. M. Currie, ; five of these, lots being by Field "Battery.' Competition,was keenest for a , yearling by Field'■ Battery from Our Lady, a brother to Bronze, who has • been winning-of late. This youngster reached 120 guineas, at which figure ho . was "knocked down to the To. Awamutu ; owner, Mr. A. H. Dingle. In all tho "f six lots brought 267 guineas. Mr. H. j, R. ;M‘.Kensue, of the Ascot Stud Farm, * offered five lots, four of which were : disposed of . for a total of 162 "guineas; ' the main contributor to this sum being , a. sturdy chestnut yearling colt by Monoform—Daffodil, which was secured v by the, Gisborne sportsman Mr, F. ri* Leomb for 100 guineas. Mr.. W. Dunn, v of Eosedale Park, Pukckohe, sold three : jbut of five lots for 106 guineas! ■' Mr. j Donald M'Einnon disposed;; :,of bno'.lot i; 1 and withdrew another. Three yearlings ■ by Powerful, brother to Seahorse,,'were maced under the; hammer by Mr. J. D. Kemp, of Awhitn, the trio bringing in 68 guineas. Of this lot one was a ? half-brother to Electrakoff, which wont ■" cheaply at 39 guineas to the owner of 1 tho latter. Messrs. R. and R, Dndcr parted with two put .of six lots for 49 1 guineas. Two hundred-guineas was of- •$ fered for a brown filly by Smiit—Cni- ;; irasotto; at which figure the yearling Was passed, the Messrs. Duder expecting at least 250 guineas.; Pour out of the five lots submitted by Mr. E. P. , Paul, of Maugorei were passed; A two-year-old half-brother to Ngapoka realised 40'guineas. . In all 32 lots out of 45 were- sold for 997 guineas. ”
