POVERTY BAY MEETING. For Press Asociafum. GISBORNE, Oct. 27. The spring meeting of the Povort, Bay Turf Club opened to-day in fin weather and in tho presence of a large attendance. Only five bookmakers were licensed. The sum of £5130 was put through the totalisator, as against £48(13 on the first day last year. Spring Handicap, miles. —Paisano 1, Goldfindef 2, Ballyhoigh 3. A magnificent finish to a well-run race, Paisano winning by a short head. Time, 2min 10|scc. Welter Handicap, 7 furlongs.—Ardfert 1, Master Stead 2, Game 3. Also ran: Swarthmoor, Durability and Royal Youngster. Won by two lengths. Time, Imin Sl^scc.
