The Evening News has been fined £2OO for contempt of court in alleging that the quarter-master of the Montrose had been in consultation with Mr. Muir, leading counsel for the Crown in tho, Crippen case. Tho Chief Justice said that if such instances continued to occur in future the court might have to consider whether a fine was sufficient to step the growing evil.
