Walthamstow trade unionists are thoroughly dissatisfied with the reply of Mr. J. A. Simon to their questions as to what the Government proposed to do about tho Osborne judgment, and announce a determined campaign against the Government. Mr. Simon, speaking at Leyton, said that he was unwilling that the proper and reasonable functions of trade unions should bo curtailed, but did not believe in doing evil that good might come. Whatever tho solution was, they must not do injustice to large bodies of men whose opinions wore entitled to as much respect as his own. THE DEVOLUTION PROPOSALS. LONDON, Oct. 21. Sir A. F. Aol.'iud Hood, speaking at Bishop’s Lydeard, and referring to devolution and the. House of Commons’ proposals, said it was curious to sec a Government which nine months earlier avowed its intention of destroying one historical House now scheming to dismember another. THE PAYMENT OF MEMBERS. (Received Oct, 22, 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 21. Mr. John Ward, Labour M.P. for Stoke-in-Trent, in an interview said that he preferred the payment of members to tho reversal of the Osborne judgment.
