TARAHAKES EARLY HISTORY. (From the Taranaki Herald of I 860.) Saturday, Sept. 29.—Intelligence was received to-day from the Bell Block that the rebels were burning two houses, Mr. J. Mills’ and Mr. Ibbotson’s. Two companies of the 65th were ordered to march thither immediately after 'receipt of the information, but the order was subsequently countermanded. By permission of General Gold the band of the 65th played a selection' of music at Mount Eliot. Both'the ~4Qtb and the 65th bands have performed in public during the' past lew weeks. Weather continues fine.
