BUCKLAND AND SON. (Special to Herald.) AUCKLAND, SepT. 23. Messrs. Buckland and Son report: At Westfield on Wednesday at the fat stock sales, 401 head were yarded of first class quality, and competition was keen. Steer beef brought £1 5s to £1 8s per 100 lb cow and heifer 19s to £1 ss, steers £6 17s 6d to £ls, cows and heifers £4 to £9 12s 6d, 40 bullocks sold at £l3 10s 3d.

Ninoty-two fat yo ung calves sold well, heavy £2 9s to £3, medium well done calves £1 11s to' £2 7s, others 15s to £1 9s, small 3s to 12s. There was a moderate entry-of mutton. The quality was medium, but the price was good. Heavy wethers £1 7s 9d to £1 10s, medium £1 4s to £1 7s, light £1 to £1 3s 6d, shorn 17s 9d to 18s 6d, weighty ewes £1 4s 6d to £1 8s 3d, hoggets 18s to £-1 Is 9d, light and unfinished 11s 3d to 14s 6d; 1339 were yarded. Eighty-seven lambs met with brisk sale. . Baconers £2 9s’ 6d to £3 2s 6d, largo porkers £l, 13s to £2. 4s, lighter £1 3s to £1 10s, slips 14s to 19s, weqners 9s to 12s Gd ; 121 were sold. On Thursday prices were the same. Dairy cow's close to profit £7 to £lO for first quality, others £4 ,10s to £5, empty cows £2 12s’ 6d to £3 17s 6d, grade Jersey heifer calves £3, mixed yearlings £2 Bs, small pigs 10s. NEWTON KING. Following is Mr. Nowton King’s weekly report:At the ' Haymarkot on Saturday weanor pigs made 6s to Ss, slips 3s 6d to ss, stores (small) 9s! 6d to 12s, good stores 16s to 20s, sow £l. On the 14th instant I held a clearing sale at Toko, on account of Messrs. Zurcher Bros. There was a good demand, and excellent prices were realised. Cows close up made £7 5s to £l2 10s, later do. £5 to £6 15s, springbig heifers £7 2s 6d to £8 2s 6d. On the 16th instant I held a clearing sale at Urenui on account of Mr. C. Greenwood. There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding was brisk, especially for the cows and horses, which realised excellent, prices. Cows close up made £6 15s to £ll, later £3 17s .6d to £6 10s, springing heifers £5 to £5 7s 6d, empty heifers £4, yearling heifers £2 10s, 18-months steers £3 13s, 2 to 21-year steers £4 13s. f.m. ewes 7s 7d, fat and forward ewes 11s 6d, draught mare £4l 10s, do. £45 10s, 10-months filly £l7, hack £7 10s, trap mare £20,, flog cart £ls, phaeton £l2. Sundries sold well.

At TJrenui on Monday woaners made 395, yearling steers £2 9s to £2 16s, empty heifers £3 10s 6d to £3 35s 6d, store cows £3 Is to £3 15s Cd, fat cows £5, forward cows £4 3s, springing cows £5 15s to £7 7s 6d, springing heifers £5 +o £7 10s. 2-yorr steers £4 to £4 2s Cd, 3-year steers £5 6s, bulls £3 2s 6d.

At Douglas the same day mixed weaners made 32s to 355, yearling heifers (small) £2 10s 6d, yearling steers £2 17s 6d, 18-months steers £3 13s, empty heifers £3 14s 6d to £3 17s, store cows £2 12s to £3 13s 6d, springing cow's up to £6 ss, springing heifers £5 5s to £6 ss, later do. £3 5s to £4 10s, balls £1 12s to £2 13s 6d.

At Stratford on Tuesday there was only a small yarding of store cattle. Yearling steers made £2 9s 6d to £2 17s, yearling heifers £2 15s to £2 18s, mixed yearlings £2 14s, store cows £2 8s to £3 16s, forward do. £4 Bs, empty heifers £3 6s to £3 13s, cow and calf £3 4s to £4, 4-jcar bullocks £7 ss, bulls £2 to £3 16s. A line of 1000 2 and 4 tooth wethers made 15s 9d.

On the same day there was a good yarding of springing heifers. The demand was not so good as the irrevious week, and a fair number were passed. Springing heifers close up made £6 10s to £8 ss, late do. £3 15s to £5 17s 6d, dairy cows £5 10s to £B. At Stony Biver on Wednesday there was a full yarding, mainly of young cattle, of which most were placed either at the hammer or afterwards. -Yearling steers made £2 9s 6d to £3 4s 6d, yearling heifers £2 7s 6d to £3 13s, do. Jersey strain £3 Bs, mixed yearlings £2 13s to £2 19s, empty heifers £3 to £3 19b Od, store cows £2 9s to £3 13s 6d, forward do. £4, fat cows £5 18s, 18-months to 2-year steers £3 17s, springing heifers £4 15s to £5 17s 6d, bulls £2 5s to £2 19s.
