THE WARATAH MYSTERY.
'AMONGST THE WHALERS. DELAY OP THE WAKEFIELD. By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, Feb. 15. A marine officer, who recently spent fifteen months at Kerguelen Island, states that tho Norwegians maintain a prosperous whaling station there, and employ a 3000-ton steamer, tho Jeanno d'Arc, to convey their produce to Capetown. Ho thinks that this vessel was perhaps driven south of her course by bad weather, and may have been the steamer sighted off Marion Island. The Premier has received a cable from the Premier of Natal stating that the Wakefield is unable to leave Durban till Thursday week at least. Much indignation is expressed locally at the delay.
