INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Jan. 17. —The Inglewood Town Band gave an open-air concert' in the railway reserve on Sunday night after church hours. The band, though a little weak in numbers, keeps excellent time, and the largo crowd of interested hearers had nothing but good to say of the musical treat provided. Mr. B. 11. Nicholls, juu., of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, ilaetihi, who has been at homo ou sick leave, returned to Ilaetihi on Saturday. Much sympathy is felt with' Mr. F. C. Bennett, of this town, who on'Saturday . underwent a serious operation on his • eye. Mr. Bennett is progressing as well as can be expected. The Salvation Army Silver Biorama shows in the Parish, Hall on Friday night. Quito a number of Inglewood playgoers intend patronising Williamson's Comic Opera Company in the Theatre lloyal, Now Plymouth, on Monday and Tuesday nights. The day when Inglewood will boast its own theatre does not draw any closer. .The annual meeting of the Inglewood Athletic Club takes place on Monday next. On that meeting hangs the fate, of our only local sports gathering. Weather permitting, the Inglewood Croquet Club journeys to Stratford on Tuesday. May victory bo theirs! Tennis, bowls and swimming arc all quiescent.
