Tho New Plymouth Homing Pigeon Club held a ■ race yesterday from Te Awamutu on the north route. Fortypine birds competed in the race, and the weather being favourable, very fair time was recorded, the winner maintaining a velocity of 1040 yds. Oft. 4in. for the distance of 102 miles. Followinu were the positions: — R. Corney'e "Slfdor," 2hr. 54min., velocity 1040vds. Oft. 4in., Ist; E. Ward's "Effort," 2hr. 55imin., velocity 1034 yds. Ift. 7in., 2nd; W. Francis 1 "Victory," 2hr. 54* tnin., velocity 1032 yds. Ift. 6in., 3rd. The club holds a race from Waverlcy on Thursday next for yearling birds.
