SPRING FLOWERS.

A BEAUTIFUL SHOW

The bccond annual spring flower show promoted by the Whiteley Church wan well attended yesterday aitcrnoon and evening. I he' Whitcley Hall, in which building the show was being hold, was filled with a beautiful display of spring blooms, daffodils being the main feature. Considering the weather experienced latterly and also that the season is rather advanced for bulbs, the quality of the blooms was excellent. The decorative tables and mantles were work* of art? and the vases, baskets and bowls of flowers evince considerable skill and taste in the arrangement of the flowers. The champion daffodil ot the show was a Glory Leiden, shown by Mr. J. Gibson. The Morshcad Nursery Company and Mr. J. R. Duncan have large displays oi cut blooms and specimens of flowering shrubs. An exhibit attracting a deal of attention was a fine iris grown by Mr. Newton King. It is the finest we have seen. The same might bo said of an asparagus plumosa trained over a frame work about seven feet high and shown by Miss Black. Mrs. C. Webster forwarded a fine branch of Waratah bearing five (-" six large blooms. Mr. V. Davis judged the cut blooms, and Mesdamcs W. L. Newman, C. Webster and T. Brash the decorative section. The sweets and fancy [ goods stalls, and the afternoon tea and supper rooms, conducted by the ladies of the congregation, did an excellent business, and an "art gallery" and shooting gallery came m for a good patronage.
