NORTH ISLAND COMPETITION. The eighteenth week of the third comipetition promoted by the North It-land Egg-Laving Competition Association. Ltd., at Cambridge, closed on Friday. .The number of ef»gs laid during the week was 1888, being an average of 26.97 eggs per pen. The total number of eggs laid to date is 20.807, being an average ot 21)7.21 egCR per pen. The weather during the week was unfavourable. The monthly prize ot 10s fid tor August was won (in the Light Section) by Pen 12, W. Runciman, Brown Leghorns, with a total of 131 eggs : and (in the Heavy Section) by Pen 47, I<\ J. Marfell, Black Orpingtons, with a total of 148 eggs. The leading pens to date are: — Championship Class.— A. It. Browne. White Leghorns, 338. Light Breeds.— J. CooUe. White 1/oghorns, 485; W.
