The ordinary monthly meeting was held at Rahotu on Wednesday. Present: Messrs. J. Young (chairman), B. F. Bowman, A. E. PJuUips, R. Warner, and T. Harvey. The clerk was instructed to take the necessary steps to get the ten per cent, on the Newall road loan. Rate.— Resolved, on the motion of the chairman aad Mr. Phillips, that a halfpenny rate be struck for the year. Ranging.— Resolved, that the ranger's attention be calJed to the number of stock running on road* between Arawhata road and Opunake. By-laws. — Notice of motion was passed that the previous by-laws be repealed aad new ones enforced which restrict "the winter loads to one- third less than that previously carried, during the months of June, July, August, and (September. Te Namu Road.— The foreman was instructed to attend to the drain complained of. Tipoka Road.— lt was decided to have 100 yards of metal put on the road, which could be done at 2s 6d per yard in the pit. Opua Road.— lt was decided to let drain-cleaning at Is per chain to Mr. Greeaway, to be done in the summer. Tramline.— Mr. C. S. Strange waited on the Board re the proposed tramline on Arawhata road, on behalf of the settlers. A meeting was held, and tlmy wanted an arrangement made with Mr. Bartle (who proposes to have a mill) whereby the road will be attended to on account of excessive traffic.— Resolved, on the motion of the chairman and Mr. Bowman, that aa agreement be drawn up and signed to the satisfaction of settlers and Mr. Bartle. Pound. — Mr. Baker waited on .the Board and said he could not allow the Board's horse to be gra»d in the pound paddock, as it would not be satisfactory, but he would allow the Board the use of a stork paddock adjoining, provided it is aot being used, for diseased stock-— A renewal of the present agreement .w«s decided on. Ihaia Road Loan. — Mr. T. Harman waited on the Board and said the work proposed! would cost more thsa could ' be done with the suggested loan, and the settlers wanted more area in the loan.— It was decided to refer the petition back to the settlers and arrange for an atoonnt sufficient to 4o the work required. Kabul Road.— Mr. iA. Chapman waited on the Board re a charge made against him of blocking a culvert. He denied blocking the culvert, but some years ago the Board had it closed. The Board has now had it opened, aad lets the water to within a chain of his kitchen door.Resolved, that the overseer inspect. Ranger. — T. Coaroy was appointed ranger between Oaonui river and Puniho. . TSpokft Soad,— J. Guy wrote stating that the 8s 8d charged against him v a contribution was balanced by gravel taken from his land. He complaiaed about a pit being opened without his permission, and awed for it to be male safe, so that his cattle would not fad into it. He wanted 4d a yard royalty on all gravel taken, but would give a rebate of 2d to go towards the road. ' Thanks.— Mr. Sam. Hill wrote thanking the Board for expressing approral of the work done ia the Panhaka road district. He regretted to say he wis amongst those who bad been retrenched by the Department.— Resottred, on the motion of the chairman and Mr. Phillips, that the Board regrets that the Department has seen -fit to retrench Mr. Hill, who has beea * capable and trustworthy valuer, and that a copy of the resolution be seat to the Valuation Department. Ngariki Road.— Mr. J. K. Law wrote drawing attention to the bad state o' formation, and stating Chat unless some gravelling is done the work will b» wasted. — Resolved, that when the road is fit, tenders be called for gravelling. Kaweora Road. — Resolved, that the Reserves Ageat be written to for plans of deviation of Kaweora road, so that the gravelling can be gone on with. Parihaka Road, — Resolved, that ih« foreman bare a few days' work in filling holes oa the road. Accounts amounting to £139 16s *i (general) and £33 4s 9d (special) wen passed for payment. , ]
