BROWN TROUT OVA. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Wellington, Fridaj. During the plat Mason the Marine Department sold 960,000 brown trout ova to the following acclimatisation »ocieties: — Wellington, 400,000; Greymouth, 8001,000; Southland, JOOjOOO; Nelson, 100,000; Hawke'a Bay, 60,000; Oamarn, 50,000; Marlborough, 40,000; Stratford* 10,000. The ova, which jras obtained worn Otago and Canterbury rivers, was sold tp the societies at 5s per thousand. ' THE ROCK OYSTER TRADE. Wellington, Friday. The Marine Department states that the demand for rock oysters which w«b so great at the beginning of the season that orders could not be filled quickly enough, has fallen off to such an, extent that some of the pickers havo had to be discharged. The season doses at tho end of next month. RAILWAY BENEFIT SOCIETY. Wanganui, Friday. , A meeting of the management committee of the Wanganui, Napier, Taranaki and Manawatu Railway Employees' Sick Benefit Society considered the proposal of the Executive Council of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants oa the question of establishing 9 Dominion sick benefit society, and resolved to recommend that no change be made, as the present constitution and administration of the society is satisfies tory to the majority of members. A NEW MEAT COMPANY. Pahiatna, Last Night. At a meeting of the shareholders of the Wellington Meat Company held here this afternoon there was a large attend,ance, Wairarapa and Manawatu districts being well represented. It rt'aolved that the question of a site for freezing works be left to the permanent directors to decide, and that they confine their report to Wellington and Wairarapa sites. KKQTTBSTR TO CHARITIES. Wairarapa land agents report that there is a very satisfactory demand for pastoral and dairy lands at fair prices.
