Heavy westerly weather at Greymouth on Tuesday detained no less than five steamers from negotiating the bar. Tho Arahura, Kotuku, Ngabere, Waimea and 'Himitangl were all in the roadstead. . The new steamer Ruahine, whiob lias just been launched for the New Zealand Shipping Company, Will have accommodation for 56 first-saloon, 75 second saloon, and 150 third-class, which cart.be augmented to bold 400 if necessary. .The principal dimensions are :— Length 4M)ft., beam 60ft., depth 35ft. The Ruahine will be able to steam 18 knots on a loaded draught.
