Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August 26. Bulletin was scratched for the New Zealand Cup at 3.20 p.m. to-day, THE LATE MRv PAYLING. CHRISTCHURCH, August 25. Before proceeding with the ordinary business of the annual meeting of the Trotting Association this afternoon, the chairman, Mr. P. Seiig, referred in sympathetic terms to ttte> demise of the late Mr. G. Payling- Mr. Selig recalled the long connection ,of the deceased gentleman with trotting sport, both as an official and member. Mr. Payling had been consistent in his duties, while at the last conference at Wellington he unflinchingly, as was characteristic cf his life, presided, although far trum well at the time. Mr. Sefig c included by moving that a motion of sympashy for the widow and son should be placed on the records of .the association, and that a copy should be forwarded to the bereaved. The motion was carried in silence, all standing.
