HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

COMMITTEE MEETING.

The general committee of the New Plymouth Horticultural Society met at the Town Hall last night, the Mayor, Mr. G. Tisch, presiding. * There were also- present Mesdames Dockrill and Grant, Miss Hempton, Messrs. M'Gahey W. W. Smith, J. Paton, S. W. Shaw, A. Hooker, G. W. Browne. F. Goqd* acre, E. W. Griffiths, W. Bendall and ' E. Allen. Apologies were received from Messrs. Dempsey and Sandford, Mrs. M'Kellar and Miss Smith, •""-ttfr^JPiifbtf moved . and Mr. Smith seconded that a subcommittee of five be Appointed to attend to the canvatoing for special prices fox the rose show, the printing of the t schedule, and allotment of special prises. The following ] were appointed : — Messrs. Tisch, Paton, ( M'Gahey and Browne and Mrs. Dock- i rill. I The resignation of Mrs. Hanna <as , a member of the committee was accept- ■ ed with regret. • ~ < % I Mr. Shaw moved and Mr. Smith seconded that one champion bloom be substituted for the classes of four best roses, pink, white, yellow and red in the rose show schedule. | The motion was. carried. During the evening it was notified that the following special prizes had been promised: — Mr. Tisch £2, Miss Godfrey <not stated). Mr. Paton £1 Is, Mrs. Dockrill £1 Is, Mr. S.
