Mr. H. Catton has been appointed temporary teacher of the Tabora and Hurimoana School. v Mr. J. Wade has been re-eleoted chairman of* the Taranaki Education Board. Mr. B, C. Aston, Chief Government Analytical Chemist, arrived in New Plymouth last night. Mr. Aston's visit is in connection with the prosecution of certain firms for exporting butter with an excess of moisture contents. Mr. C. R. C. Robieson, who was recently appointed Director of Tourist and Health Resorts, has now been appointed Director of the Industries and Commerce Department also (says tlie Wellington Times). For some time jMr. Robieson was chief dork in. both departments. Ho has practically boen in charge of Industries and Commerce since the recent reorganisation. It is expected that his now appointment will le gazetted this week. z The Chinese Consul, Mr. Yung-Liang Hwang, intends to pay an official visit to Auckland tins week, arriving there by the Mum Trunk express on Friday morning. This being the first occasion on which tho Auckland Chinese have hid an opportunity to meet the consul, quite hii interesting progrannno is bring arranged. A banquet is being arranged for Monday night at the Caruud Hotel, and leading citizens of Auckland arc being invited to this function. Sir Chariot Lucas and Mr. A. A. Colonial Office, who have been louring Australia for the past four or five months, started on their homeward journey from Sydney on August 17, when they left by tho steamer Atim for Fiji.
