LINERS SOLD.
Cable advice has lieen received in Sydney that the two well-known P. and O. steamers' .Britannia and Victoria have been sold to Italian buyers. Ikith these vessels were built in 188> hy Messrs. Cairo and Company, at Greenock, and until recently were employed in the company's Australian mail service. They were, however, withdrawn when the P. and O. Line placed in commission the steamers of tho 'M" class, which are now running. Both vessels are capable of maintaining a high rate of speed, and are very large pasaenger carriers. The cable does- not state the price -they realised or what service the new owners intend to place them in.
The Rarawa brought 44 tons of cargo from Onehunga this morning, including 48 bags 01 cement, 132 pipes, etc., 150 bags of sugar, and 67 cases of fruit. The oonya arrived from Southern ports this morning with 230 tons of general cargo.
