Mr. Xewton King's weekly butter and cheese- report trom Messrs. R. and "W. Davidson, of London and Glasgow, under date July 1>: — Continental Butters. — The market this week has hoon oi a disappointing nature, tho demand continuing very qiiio^, ;uid prices, notwithstanding thi* advance in Copenlragen last week, being almost stationary. Our tc-legmphic advices from Denmark yesterday state that the market there was dull, and the quotation has been wired to-day as unchanged. The weather during the past week has been dull and rainy, and there is an entire absence, ot the warmth that is usual at this period of the year. The f ountry is now badly In. need ot a spell of dry. warm weather. Danish and Swedish Butters. — The total shipments into this country show a slight decrease. There Ji.^s been a quiet market, and the advance of last week on Danish has not been established, prices being practically unaltered to. in some cases, Is advance. We.q^ote . strictly choicest quality, 113s tor 114s. Siberian Butter. — The arrivals this week are considerable. Strictly choicest quality meets with a steady demand at unaltered rates, viz., 98s, 100s, up to 102s. Medium quality also moves steadily into consumption at from 94s to 98s. Our cables from Siberia this week indicate that the market there is steady, with, in some districts, a slight advance having taken place. French Butter. — A steady demand continues for best grades. Baskets, extra quality 102s to 104s, do. choice quality 100s to 102s. do. unsalted 106s to 108s. All landed London. Irish Creameries. — The market during the past w,eek has been somewhat better, and prices have advanced Is to 2s per cwt. The arrivals at present are very large, but tliere is a steady demand, and stocks are 'moving steadily to 106s, this being the landed nrice at the various markets in Qreat Britain. Unsalted commands Is to 2s over these prices. Colonial Butters — There is practically , nothing now in the market of cither New Zealand or Australian. Quotations are, therefore, nomhfel, 96s to 106s. v IMPORTS TO THE .UNITED KINGDOM. The total imports from January 1 to week ending July 10, for the last four years, are as follows: — i Cwts. * 1906 2,456,515 1907 2,493,247 1908 2,278,537 1909 „ 2,284,361 CHEESE. Canadian Cheese. — New cheese meets With a quietly steady demand at practically unaltered rates, viz.,, white 57s 6d to 58s 6d, coloured 60s to 61s. Old cheese continues firm, coloured 695, white 635. New Zealand Cheese. — This meets with a moderate inquiry, and price < these last few days are, if anything, a turn firmer, choicest white and coloured being 1 quoted at 60s to 61s. The heated parcels which have been troubling the market of late have now been pretty well cleared up. Any odd lots that are still offering can be obtained at prices ranging from 57s to 595.
