WAITARA.
(From -Our Own Correspondent. Mr. J. W. Foreman has been advised by .hi* medical «ttendaiit to take a prolonged rest.- and with-that'end in view it v probable thai he will shortly retire from participating in public life. This determination will, I am sure, be received with keen regret by the various local bodies with which Mr. Foreman is connected.
The mare Lady Lancelot, owned by Mr. W. Elliot, the well-known local trainer, died from tetanus on Sunday. Mr. Elliot at,, the inception of the trouble availed himself of the services of -Mr. H. Taylor, V.S t , who diagnosed , Abe ca*» a*, stated and as being hopeless. On Saturday evening the Waitara Municipal Band, gave an open air concert in M'Lean Street, which was most enjoyable, many complimentary refer- ; enees being heard as to the high state ; of efficiency it has attained under its talented conductor, Mr. T. B. M'Connell. It would be better, however, if the secretary of the band would publicly notify when the band intends performing, as I am confident a much larger, throng of citizens would turn out to have^ their musical ears agreeably tickled by indulging in a "feast of music and a flow of soul." I hope the hint will be taken/ By the demise of Mr. Henry Faull, of Tikorangi, a well-known figure has been removed from our midst, and a settler of a type that this country can ill afford to lose. The writer's acquaintance with Mr. Faull goes back to some eleven years, 'during which time he was brought into close contact with the deceased, who 'was a most honourable man. Hi* word was hi* bond.
