THE LATE MR. BOSWORTH.
THE INTERMENT. The funeral ot th© late Mr. William Bosworth took place yesterday afternoon at the Te Henui Cemetery and was of a military character. The Taranaki Rifles and Guards mustered in strong torce and both Companies pro; vided a firing party ot fifteen, in charge of Colour-Sergt. Lister. All along the line of route from the deceased's residence to the cemetery there were many manifestations ot sympathy and regret, the late Mr. Bosworth being one ot the best known personalities in the district and was respected by all. The funeral cortege was led by the firing party with arms reversed and then followed the Garrison Band playing the "Dead March in Saul." Tho cofim was borne on a gun carriage and was covered with the Union Jack. The bearers were sons of old Diehards (57th Regiment) to which the deceased had belonged, namely, Messrs J. Hill, H. F. Russell, J. Duffin, T. Furlong, J.Elliot, J L. Houlahan. Following immediately behind tho chief mourners were three old comrades of the Diehards, Messrs. J. Duffin, T. Furlong, and T. P. Lister. Then came a large number of veterans and the volunteers. Tho mournful procession proceeded by way of Eliot and Lemon Streets to avoid the difficulty of negotiating a steep piece of Hobson Street. ChaplainMajor Evans was the officiating clerg> - man. The service at the graveside was of a most impressive character. Chap-lain-Major Evans referred to the lite of the deceased and said he was a man who had not been afraid to bring his religion into his private life and with what success they all knew. At the conclusion of the service threo volleys were fired over the grave, and Bugler Okey sounded "The Last Post." The Garrison Band rendered the hymn "Lead Kindly Light," after which the large and sympathetic gathering dispersed.
