Willis, the leading iigure in the late land scandals, was found stabbed in some scrub near Raiidmel. about midnight. The affair only leaked out this afternoon. Willis was alive. hut unconscious. He had two wounds in the left breast. Clark, trainer for Willis, states that he was at his cottage last night, and left there late in cheerful spirits. He was found by a stable ha'iv] and conveyed to the cottage. Foul play ua; not suspected by those at the cottage. and medical aid was not considered no eessary until later, when Willis became delirious, it was then discovered that he had been stabbed. The affair is mysterious. Willis was to have appeared in Court to-day in connection with a ea.-.o ii which a man named Daly was ciisngei 1 with attempting to extort mone\ fron Willis. The Judge ordeiod Willis tr show cause for failing to appear on hi;subpoena, but later on news of tht tragedy leaked out. A THREAT.
