AN ELEMENT OF BITTERNESS.
OFFICERS MURDERED BY MEN.
LONDON, April 20
The Times' Vienna correspondent nives confirmation of the Sultan's abdication in favour of Prince Reshad. It wps grnerally expected that it would be the natural epilogue to tbe failure of Tuesday's coup against the Committee, who were not expected to allow Abd-nl Ham id a further opportunity of undermining their position. It now appears there was an element of bitterness in the minds of the Committee, which was absent in Jnlv. Many of the officers at the gates of Constantinople will be eager to avenge the blood of their murdered comrades.
Official telegrams mention a repor^ from military sources that 220 Young Turk officers, including all fhe officers of a cavalry regiment, were murdered last week by the men. Prince Reshad is described as being just, temperate, and inexperienced, but honest and susceptible to guidance.
