The following report will be. presented to the annual meeting of the GuarcU to be held to-night, by Captain C » IVfills: — • . The company is again to be congra't dilated on the found position that it has maintained throughout the year. j Attendance of members at all naraties can be very much improved. With the exception of Easter manoeuvres there has been only one parade of the battalion for tho year, so that chances of learning advanced field work in cooperation with other units has not presented itself too often. However, this is a matter over which the corps has .mo control I am pleased to state that during the onsuing year the company has been granted permission to aolci two company parades per month, which will be the means of at once increasing the v opportunity of instructional lectures and practical work being cariied out. The shooting capabilities of the members has improved and the corps siiil maintains its position as the best shooting unit of the battalion. — : A separate report ■njill be furnished dealing with shooting, matters. The financial , jppsition of the company is sounds bni the maintenance of all departments that require to be provided for during the year has totalled up to a large sum. The claim for rent of Drill Hall, which item has always been dispute^ by the executive of the company, still threatens, but every effort will be made to contest the claim. The question of honorary members has had considers^? on. but the committee have come to the conclusion that as there are no privileges to offer it is better not to seek members.
Recruiting has been successful, and there has no:, been much difficulty in maintaining the company at full strength. / I trust that during the next year one and all will take a, keen interest in the welfare of the corps, which is the only moans of keeping up a high state of efficiency.
