NEW MAIL SERVICE.
VIA SAX FRANCISCO.
(Received March 25, 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 25. Tho Postmasler-General has received from the London Post Office an intimation that arrangements have been made for a regular mail service via San Francisco, Papeete, Wellington and Sydney. The Mariposa, from San Francisco, will connect with steamers of the Union Company at Papeete. They will bring 6n the mails to Australia.
Owing to the recent irregularity in the service from San Francisco by the Australian mail lino the new service will be used for correspondence via San Francisco.
The mail will be due in Sydney from 41 to 45 days after their despatch from London.
