SOCIETY'S EFFORTS.
SUPERIOR EXHIBITS.
The twelfth annual show of the Inglewood Horticultural and Poultry Society opened at Inglewood yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance during the ailornwn and evening. The entries were rot so numerous as last year, but the quality in the respective sections was the best ever seen. The judges were: Pot plants, C. Goodson; cut blooms, C. Goodson ; bouquets and arranged flowers, Mrs Wake ; children's classes, Mrs Wake; farm and garden, H. King ; fruit, G. G. Boulton ; preserves and wines, Mrs H. B. Lepper: dairy produce, G. Douch ; homemade bread, cakes and pastry, Mrs C. T. Mills; poultry,' W. Hall; painting, Miss D. Trimble; wood-carving, T. H. Phillips; fancy work, Miss Cottier; handwriting and drawing, W. A. Ballantyne and 11. G. Whetter. The Inglewood Band was in attendance. In the evening the grounds surrounding the Parish Hall were very prettily illuminated by numerous coloured electric lights. The arrangements for the show were excellent, and everything passed off smoothly. The secretary (Mr W. Messenger) was a painstaking official, arid was ably assisted by an energetic band of stewards. The ladies' committee provided refreshments, and appeared to do very good business. The show 3s being continued to-day. Details: — * POT PLANTS. Asparagus (one)— T.
