It is curious to remember that, up till a. very few years ago, musical inmstruments in the home were a monopoly of people of means. They were defective instruments enough at that. When the melodious Campion wrote his charming airs and lyrics there was not a piano in England. To-day, no house is completely homely unless there is a piano in it.
