The commission to Judge Sim says: — "Whereas it has be.en alleged that in connection with an application made to the Ohinemuri Licensing Committee, in June, 1900, by Maurice Goggan Power, for a grant of a license at Waihi. money was paid to several members of the committee as bribes to support tho application, Judge Sim is appointed » commission to inquire into the allegations, and as to the necessity for tho expediency of legislation." A report has to be furnished to tlio Governor on the 30th of this mnnth.

Judge Sim is not technically a Judge of the Supreme Court, but in order to give him the full powers of a Supreme Court Judge sitting as a commission, he has been appointed a temporary Judge of the Supreme Court. .
